Late May fishing charters in Everglades National Park and Biscayne Bay offer some of the most exciting backcountry fishing experiences in South Florida. During a recent four-day Everglades fishing charter, I had the pleasure of guiding Jim from Arkansas on his first-ever trip to this world-renowned fishing destination. Having never caught snook, redfish, spotted sea trout, or tarpon, Jim was eager to experience what makes Everglades National Park fishing charters and Biscayne Bay fishing so legendary.
Jim's inaugural visit to Everglades National Park left him captivated by the pristine wilderness and incredible fishing opportunities that define this UNESCO World Heritage site. Throughout our multi-day Biscayne Bay and Everglades fishing adventure, his enthusiasm never wavered as we targeted the diverse species that make South Florida backcountry fishing charters so popular among serious anglers. Tarpon Fishing Charters in Everglades National Park Our Everglades tarpon fishing produced multiple hookups with magnificent 40-50 pound silver kings, the hallmark of any premier Everglades National Park fishing charter. While we successfully landed several of these incredible fish, tarpon fishing remains the ultimate challenge - these powerful fighters are known for their acrobatic jumps and line-breaking runs that test both angler skill and equipment. Everglades National Park tarpon fishing charters during late May provide consistent opportunities to battle these legendary gamefish in their pristine backcountry habitat. Snook, Redfish, and Trout on Biscayne Bay Fishing Charters Beyond our tarpon success, our Biscayne Bay fishing charters and Everglades backcountry adventures targeted the famous "inshore slam" species that make South Florida fishing so diverse. I guided Jim to a productive honey hole that produces exceptional results when tidal conditions align perfectly. This secret spot, accessible only through experienced Everglades National Park fishing guides, delivered exactly what we hoped for during our backcountry fishing expedition. Our Biscayne Bay snook fishing proved incredibly productive, with multiple aggressive strikes from these iconic South Florida gamefish. The redfish action complemented our snook success perfectly, while spotted sea trout rounded out an exceptional day of Everglades and Biscayne Bay fishing. These species represent the core targets for most South Florida inshore fishing charters, and late May conditions create ideal opportunities for multi-species success. June Fishing Outlook for Everglades and Biscayne Bay Charters As we transition into June, both Everglades National Park fishing charters and Biscayne Bay fishing expeditions will continue delivering exceptional results despite rising summer temperatures. Experienced Everglades fishing guides know that warming waters actually increase fish activity levels, making gamefish more aggressive and willing to strike various baits and lures. The diverse baitfish populations in both Everglades National Park and Biscayne Bay waters create competitive feeding situations that benefit charter fishing clients. Snook fishing charters, redfish expeditions, tarpon adventures, and multi-species backcountry trips all benefit from the increased activity levels that characterize June fishing in South Florida. Book Your Everglades National Park or Biscayne Bay Fishing Charter Whether you're planning your first Everglades National Park fishing adventure or seeking to add Biscayne Bay fishing to your South Florida experience, late spring and early summer provide ideal conditions for memorable charter fishing expeditions. What an epic week of fishing! This week started the 2025 Golden Fly out of Islamorada! Thinking second time guiding in this amazing event! Such a privilege to have been asked by my client to fish this event two years in a row! This tournament has some do the best anglers and the best of the best guides in the tarpon fishing industry! We were blessed with amazing weather and great fishing!
These days are long grueling days! We started pre fishing and hooked some great fish. We jumped around in the ocean coming across a hundred or so daisy chaining tarpon here in islamorada! It’s always an amazing sight to see! These can be the hardest fish to get to eat a fly in my opinion but it’s so cool to watch them do their thing! We ran all over the place from middle keys to Everglades city and Everglades national park in search of happy hungry tarpon! The bite was incredible! The hardest part was getting the tarpon to stay hooked up on fly! But we had double digits eats everyday day! The most being 26 eats before noon! While tarpon fishing we did see a bunch of snook and permit swimming around although not what we are targeting it’s great to see the fishery is alive and happy! Will be fishing this coming week and getting ready for the 2025 Don hawley tarpon invitational as well! Stay tuned! Capt. Ryan Booth 305-606-4551 Www.deepsouthfishingcharters.com The bite is getting hotter and hotter! Finally had some break in the wind here in islamorada Florida and Everglades national park! We have been targeting mostly tarpon on our trips in fly and spin tackle! Angeles have been sending these amazing creatures in the air int early morning time and throughout the afternoon! This time fingers I focus on the back country in Everglades national park due to the less pressure on the fish and the ease of getting them to eat!
However, tarpon have been swimming down the Oceanside in islamorada and throughout the entire Florida keys! These migratory fish can be hard to feed. They are targeted by fly fisherman that want a challenge. The eats have been epic! Since its tarpon season that means bone fishing has been fantastic here south Florida through Biscayne bay and the Florida keys! We did have a little fun event this week out of islamorada and we targeted the back country species such as snook, tarpon, bonefish, permit, trout and redfish! The kids did awesome catching some great fish! As we settle into some warmer weather and predictable wind and rain the bite will continue to get better and better! Have been on the water non-stop keeping up with the Tarpon and preparing for the Golden Fly one of the 4 largest tarpon fly fishing events here in islamorada! Looking forward to what the next week has to offer! Chasing Tarpon in Everglades National park this past week has been nothing short of nonstop action! The water temperatures remain just warm enough to keep the fish happy. The wind hasn’t laid down much making it a challenge, but we have been working through it. A few clients, fishing fly rods, hooked a couple fish as well as my next couple of clients the following two days which went 0/5 on spinning rods. Unfortunately they were unable to land the fish and get them to the boat for a nice picture. Nonetheless they are chewing! I ended up fishing the final day of the week with two of the spinning rod clients out in Biscayne Bay National Park, because they wanted to be around more clear water for some sight fishing opportunities. We decided to chase Bonefish and Permit! Fortunately enough for James and Kye, who had never caught one before, they were able to wrangle in 3 Bonefish and 1 massive Permit of about 25+ pounds. Incredible times with these gentleman and can’t wait until next time! Thanks, Capt. Austin Abercrombie Let's talk about Biscayne Bay National Park being absolutely ON FIRE right now! Whether you're booking a fly fishing charter or spin tackle fishing charter, the action is reaching peak season intensity across all species.
This past week's fishing charters delivered exceptional variety. I had the pleasure of guiding a recurring client who specifically wanted to target oceanside tarpon on his charter. Our persistence paid off with multiple encounters featuring schools of 50+ silver kings ready for action. Despite challenging winds and their notoriously selective feeding habits, these magnificent game fish are finally establishing consistent patterns. The opportunities for a trophy tarpon fishing charter are definitely there! The following days brought a memorable multi-day fishing charter with a younger gentleman and his 83-year-old father. Their simple request? A good time and some bonefish action. Our charters delivered both objectives all three days! The Biscayne bonefish are widespread and actively feeding, providing consistent light tackle thrills throughout our charter area. We even encountered the unusual sight of a mutton snapper trailing a stingray across the flats – showcasing the incredible diversity these fishing charters can produce. Stay tuned for next week's fishing charter report as I'll be guiding several clients into Everglades National Park, focusing exclusively on connecting with the legendary "Silver King" tarpon. These specialized tarpon fishing charters are prime booking opportunities during this peak migration period. For those looking to experience Biscayne Bay's exceptional spring fishing, now is the time to secure your charter dates before the prime calendar spots fill completely! Capt. Austin Abercrombie Hi-ho silver! Tarpon are getting thicker and thicker! The Everglades out of flamingo on the west coast is the meeting grounds for these migratory tarpon to come and hangout and feed! Staging for the migration! We had a light front come through this week just like last year but the fish were still happy and around. Targeting these fish on fly and spin is easier then fishing the Oceanside migratory fish. Hook up ratio is extremely high! When they slow down we have been changing it up to fishing the mangroves for snook and baby tarpon! Weather is getting more and more predictable as we move further into spring and summer!
Tarpon are not the only plentiful fish going off right now! Bone-fishing in Islamorada Florida keys and Biscayne bay is extremely hot right now! Love using shrimp to get multiple fish to eat! However accurate fly casting has been giving us great shots at these fish with the occasional Permit coming through! As we move closer into spring the permit will start to show up more and more giving us a few more shots then we have currently but still one of the hardest fish in my opinion to feed on fly! They are not loyal fish lol The peacock bass fishing is getting hotter as we get closer to their spawning season in may. They are always fun to go target on fly and light tackle whether it’s bait or lures! We have some dates still open for may and June prime tarpon dates! Reach out to us and let’s get out there and sling feathers! This week’s fishing report is brought to you by the laid up hungry Tarpon! When chasing Tarpon headed out of Flamingo, Everglades National Park, there are few places where we can find these fish and they act completely different at every different spot. You can find these Everglades Tarpon rolling around, belly crawling in the mud with their tails out of the water and some just laid up waiting to pounce on that fly! This week, on a day where the wind finally settled down, we were able to sight fish 50lb-100lb fish sitting still in the current waiting for that perfect opportunity. We had 4 eats on fly and were able to wrangle in a nice 50-60lb fish. Needless to say the Utah clients were extremely happy, especially for never even seeing a Tarpon before. As the wind picks up later this week we will have to try some different tactics in locating these fish but I’m not worried at all. If we’re going it’s because they are there! I’ll keep y’all updated next week to let you know how we did chasing the Silver King in 20knot winds.
Capt. Austin Abercrombie In south Florida we typically find ourselves dealing with windy conditions in March and the first week or two leading into April. Despite challenging conditions, our guided fishing trips are still successfully targeting snook, redfish and tarpon throughout the Everglades National Park. We have also experienced some later cold fronts that we didn't have last year which tend to put a slow down on the tarpon activity, prompting our fishing charters to pivot toward other species like triple tail and cobia which have been quite abundant.
As it warms up the two to three days after the cold front and the wind settles down, sight fishing for snook and redfish become a lot more bearable and the tarpon come alive! Our professional fly fishing guides specialize in these prime windows of opportunity. In addition to the Everglades being a great option this time of year, Biscayne Bay fishing charters have been nothing short of epic, especially when we're talking bonefish. The lower tides bring in tailing fish, allowing for easier sight fishing opportunities particularly for fly fishing enthusiasts. The permit are definitely around as well! Throwing live crabs this time of year is recommended for the windier days but the fly fishing opportunities are there also, just need to pick the right day or really hone in on that double haul! Our guided fishing trips can accommodate both conventional and fly fishing approaches depending on conditions. For the ultimate South Florida fishing experience, book one of our Everglades or Biscayne Bay fishing adventures today! Capt. Austin Abercrombie As winter releases its grip on South Florida, Biscayne Bay transforms into one of the world's premier fishing destinations. The spring season, spanning March through May, represents the absolute pinnacle for anglers targeting the bay's legendary gamefish. With warming waters and consistent weather patterns, Captains Ryan Booth and Austin Abercrombie's Biscayne Bay fishing charters are putting clients on exceptional action across multiple trophy species throughout the bay's diverse ecosystem.
The spring transformation in Biscayne Bay creates a perfect storm of fishing opportunities for those booking Biscayne Bay fishing charters. Water temperatures stabilizing in the mid-70s trigger increased activity across all species, while the notorious winter winds begin to moderate, providing more consistent fishing conditions. This combination of factors makes spring the most productive and versatile season for Biscayne Bay fishing charters. "There's simply no better time to be on Biscayne Bay than spring," explains Captain Ryan Booth, who runs specialized Biscayne Bay fishing charters targeting multiple species. "We're seeing multiple species active on the same day, often on the same flat. One minute you might be casting to tailing bonefish, and the next you're switching rods for a permit cruising through. The variety and quality of fishing opportunities this time of year is unmatched for our charter clients." Captain Austin Abercrombie, whose Biscayne Bay fishing charters focus on trophy pursuits, adds, "What makes spring so special in Biscayne Bay is the consistency. We're not battling the severe cold fronts of winter or the extreme heat and afternoon thunderstorms of summer. Spring gives us longer fishing windows with stable conditions, which translates to more opportunities for our Biscayne Bay fishing charter clients." Biscayne Bay's bonefish population truly shines during spring months. These elusive speedsters become more active as water temperatures rise, often tailing aggressively during lower tides on the expansive flats. Biscayne Bay fishing charters targeting these gray ghosts have reported exceptional success in recent weeks. "April and May represent prime time for Biscayne Bay bonefish," notes Captain Booth, whose fishing charters frequently target these prized gamefish. "We're finding excellent numbers of fish on the western flats, particularly during the lower tides when they're more concentrated and visible. The average size has been impressive too, with most fish in the 6-8 pound class and several double-digit specimens landed by our charter clients this season." Successful spring bonefish tactics on Biscayne Bay fishing charters involve focusing on warming flat systems, particularly areas with darker bottom that heat up faster. Small crabs, shrimp patterns, and well-presented artificial lures have all been productive, with the fish showing increased willingness to chase down presentations as their metabolism increases with warming waters. Perhaps no fishing experience in Biscayne Bay rivals the challenge and reward of connecting with a permit on the flats. Spring coincides with increased permit activity as these discerning gamefish prepare for their spawning rituals, creating prime opportunities for specialized Biscayne Bay fishing charters targeting these coveted trophies. "The permit fishing on our Biscayne Bay charters this spring has been exceptional," reports Captain Abercrombie. "We're seeing good numbers of fish both on the oceanside flats and in the interior basins. What's been particularly exciting is the size of the permit we're encountering on our fishing charters—many fish in the 15-25 pound range with several approaching 30 pounds landed by our clients this season." Spring permit tactics on Biscayne Bay fishing charters focus on identifying feeding patterns tied to specific tide phases. Live crabs remain the gold standard for bait, though fly anglers have found success with crab patterns presented precisely to cruising fish. The warming spring waters increase permit feeding activity, creating more opportunities for successful presentations during guided fishing charters. The arrival of migratory tarpon represents one of spring's most anticipated events for Biscayne Bay fishing charters. Beginning in late March and building through April and May, these magnificent gamefish offer the ultimate test of angling skill and equipment for charter clients. "We're seeing the first major push of migratory tarpon on our Biscayne Bay fishing charters right now," explains Captain Booth. "The oceanside flats and channels near the bay's eastern edge have been holding good numbers of fish in the 60-120 pound class. As we move deeper into May, we expect the numbers and size of tarpon to increase substantially for our charter clients." Tactics for spring tarpon on Biscayne Bay fishing charters focus on intercepting migratory fish along established travel corridors. Early morning and late afternoon provide peak activity periods when the silver kings are more likely to roll, revealing their locations. Live bait presentations with mullet, pinfish, and crabs have been most productive, though some tarpon have been taking well-presented artificial lures during optimal conditions. While bonefish, permit, and tarpon often capture the spotlight, Biscayne Bay's snook and redfish populations provide outstanding supplementary action during spring months for those on fishing charters. These species often complete what captains refer to as the "inshore grand slam." "The snook fishing on our Biscayne Bay charters this spring has been remarkably consistent," notes Captain Abercrombie. "We're finding quality fish along mangrove shorelines and creek mouths, particularly during the first few hours of the falling tide. Several of our charter clients have landed snook exceeding 15 pounds this season, with most fish in the 8-12 pound class." Redfish activity has also increased with spring's arrival, with schools becoming more visible on specific flats throughout the bay. These copper-colored gamefish have been particularly active during lower tide phases when they become more concentrated in predictable areas, creating excellent opportunities for Biscayne Bay fishing charters. "What makes spring so exciting for our Biscayne Bay fishing charters is the legitimate chance at a grand slam or even a super grand slam," adds Captain Booth. "We've had several charter trips this season where clients have landed bonefish, permit, tarpon, and redfish all in the same day—the kind of diverse fishing experience that makes Biscayne Bay fishing charters so special." For anglers looking to experience the world-class spring fishing opportunities in Biscayne Bay, securing dates with experienced fishing charter captains is essential. Captains Ryan Booth and Austin Abercrombie offer specialized Biscayne Bay fishing charters targeting all of the bay's premier gamefish. "Spring represents our busiest season for Biscayne Bay fishing charters, and for good reason," explains Captain Abercrombie. "The fishing quality combined with the more predictable weather makes these months incredibly popular. We recommend booking your Biscayne Bay fishing charter well in advance to secure prime dates, particularly for those interested in the peak tarpon migration in May." Full-day Biscayne Bay fishing charters provide the optimal experience, allowing time to target multiple species and adapt to changing conditions throughout the day. Both captains emphasize the importance of flexibility during spring trips, as the diversity of fishing opportunities allows for targeting whatever species are most active on a given day. Both Captains Booth and Abercrombie maintain a strong conservation ethic on their Biscayne Bay fishing charters, emphasizing responsible catch-and-release practices for the bay's valuable gamefish. "We're fortunate to have this incredible fishery in our backyard for our charter clients," notes Captain Booth. "Practicing proper fish handling techniques and educating our Biscayne Bay fishing charter clients about the importance of conservation ensures these fishing opportunities remain available for future generations." This conservation focus includes using appropriate tackle to minimize fight times, proper fish handling to reduce stress, and supporting ongoing research efforts to better understand and protect Biscayne Bay's ecosystem. For those seeking the ultimate spring fishing adventure in one of the world's most diverse and productive fisheries, Biscayne Bay fishing charters deliver unparalleled opportunities. The combination of multiple trophy species, improving conditions, and the expert guidance of experienced captains creates the perfect recipe for unforgettable fishing experiences. Season is getting busier and busier! Fishing is gradually getting hotter and hotter!
Right now this time of year the we are finishing up little spurts of cold fronts in south Florida! These cold fronts help sometimes stall the tarpon migration so they group up thicker in Everglades National park! Helps keep the bait run going! EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK FISHING CHARTERS Last few trips the weather has been great with occasional day of more wind then normal which isn’t a problem! Early morning and mid day have been spectacular for Tarpon fishing. We set out early in morning and if water temps are cooler then we target snook and redfish on the flats or in and around the mangroves. Then once that water temp reaches the right temp it’s time to switch gears and go chase the silver! The trout bite in flamingo has been spectacular usually the by catch while fishing for tarpon! The snook bite continue to be steady and tides are starting to fill in more so making sight fishing better and better! ISLAMORADA FISHING CHARTERS With islamorada being close to Everglades national park that makes it easier to chase bonefish and shoot over to chase snook redfish and tarpon. This past week we had some nice days where we were able to sight fish those early migration tarpon on the bay! Once the wind picked up it made it harder to sight fish then and that’s when we transition to running the extra 15 mins to chase tarpon on the flamingo side of the bay! However bonefishing has been amazing! Smaller fish but schooled up and hungry especially on the right tide! Whether we are throwing fly or tossing jig at them we have had multiple fish days! We have came across a few permit doing there thing in the deeper water but as the water temps rise these fish will be happy and showing up more on the flat! BISCAYNE BAY FISHING CHARTERS Biscayne bay is an interesting place offering bonefish and permit with juvenile tarpon around! However when the migration starts to happen this will be a great place to put it all together! Bone fishing has been spectacular in Biscayne bay! The bay seems to be holding bigger bonefish then the upper middle keys. But they can be tricky at times! But the permit love the flats here with the water flow and the reef and wrecks not being far allows them to come in and feed and jump right back out to the wrecks. Although we offer fishing in Everglades national park, Biscayne bay and islamorada. We also do trips to chase peacock bass and large mouth bass in fly and spin! The bite has been great for peacocks! This week Austin had a group chasing peacocks. They did great with largemouth and catching so decent size peacocks! As the weather starts to normalize and the water temps get back to regular fishing will get better and better! |
