Chokoloskee Day

4/9/2019

In the past few years I have been expanding my knowledge of fisheries to learn new areas and learn new things! I have been fortunate enough to fish some of the areas that I dreamt about fishing as a kid! One of those areas in Chokoloskee and the 10,000 Islands! These fisheries are always surprising! There are plenty of happy fish as well as some slobs that hang around! It defiantly is worth checking out. The fishing is heating up of there! We threw fly all day catching redfish, snook, trout and tiny micropoons due to the wind was just crazy on the edge. But it was still an awesome day to be on the water and fishing the glades!

Springing into spring!

Hey there anglers!

Trying to catch up on some fishing reports and before I knew it  winter was over and now we are getting into spring!

Winter fishing in the Everglades and Florida Keys has been spectacular! The fish have eating non-stop from inshore to offshore! A majority of my clients were in search of the Late winter tarpon fishing! Through January and parts of February the fishing was super hot having double digit hook-ups daily! This is the normal routine in later winter and spring in the Everglades! In Downtown Miami at night the tarpon fishing is pretty solid year round weather pending. In the Back-country we are throwing flies and artificial lures for the eat. While the Tarpon fishing was steady so was the other inshore species. Catching upwards of 20-30 Snook and Redfish a day and mixing in Sheepshead and Black drum as well as occasional Cobia and Tripletail. So busy fishing that i slacked on posting picture as well!

Now lets get to Spring time fishing! With the Tarpon still stacked up from Miami to Key West and the migration starting up we will be casting at laid up Tarpon in the glades to the strings of Tarpon down the coast in the keys on fly. Bridge fishing for the Tarpon is starting up as well. Catching a mixed bag of Permit and Sharks while waiting for the Tarpon. The Back-country will continue to be red hot with the big laid up Snook coming out for some of the action and the Reds! This time of year is my favorite time to fish the deep brackish waters of the Everglades for those species when not out hunting the Silver King!

Now on to the offshore side of things. The Sword fishing has been phenomenal lately and will continue to be! We have about a month or two left of great sail fishing. Most the time the kites are in the air holding are bait at the waters surface but nothing beats seeing a sailfish rip through the surface chasing schools of bait and pitching a bait and hooking up. Possibly the best sight-fishing I have ever experienced. With the cooler days we have been having the King-fish bite has been decent, nothing like running back to dock and seeing them crush on the surface. Makes for quick grocery shopping. As we get more into spring time the snapper will start to spawn and soon as may and June hit the big mangrove snapper and Mutton Snapper will come out to play. By far the best tasting snapper there is that we catch here! You will not be disappointed when frying up a batch of Mutton's for dinner! Whether you are looking to target inshore species or offshore give us a call or email and lets get you out of the water for the best spring time and summer fishing here in South Florida!

Summer in the glades

The "No School" has come to an end but the fishing is still going strong! It has been a very productive summer and it is currently looking like the Fall will be just as good or better! We have been catching tons of Snook, Redfish, and black drum! But the Silver King is still hanging around and showing off! Few of the resident Tarpon have been very happy in the Back Country and have been super hungry! Fishing is stronger everyday! So give me a call and lets get you out on the water!

But not only have all fo the guides/captains been busy catching fish and making memories for clients. We have at the same time been fighting to protect these waters and the waters surrounding the Everglades. Huge thanks goes out to Captains For Clean Water and the captains helping them fight! We have made progress but still need to keep it going so our future generation will be able to enjoy fishing these waters!

Look into Captains for Clean Water and help us raise money! When you sign up, donate or buy products from captains for clean water I will give a $50.00 discount on the next charter!

Please sign up and help!

In other news, last month was our 3rd annual Project Healing  Waters event! Where for two days a few of the local guides and businesses support wounded veterans by taking them out on the water in the Everglades! For some of the men and women it is their first time experiencing this amazing place! Gives them the opportunity to enjoy a place that they all fought so hard for us to be able to fish on a daily basis! Look forward to next year! If youd like to help out next event reach out to me and I will get you involved!

Getting Airborne in the Glades!

Hey there Anglers,
Things have been heating up in the Everglades the last few weeks and the fishing will only get better! Just recently we the most sought after species of fish have shown up for this year migration! That's right people that means the TARPON are here! We have been having double digit days on hooking up with tarpon ranging from 80-170 pounds on fly and artificial baits. By watching how these fish are acting they are super excited just as much as us Tarpon junkies are! They seem so happy that I believe that its going to be an excellent Tarpon Season! Stay tune for pictures and videos!

Contact me via phone for any charter requests and lets get you out on the water!
